PBX Hosting Services

Ask about our hosting services. Hosting services have the fastest install time and lowest startup costs.  Our IP PBX hosting saves you money by routing calls over the internet rather than via traditional telephone providers

What happens when the Internet connection goes down?

Because our PBX is actually hosted in our fully redundant data center, incoming phone calls will always be answered by your auto-attendant and voicemail system. With the call capabilities of Active IP’s PBX, your calls can be forwarded to your cell phones should your broadband service experience problems.

Requirements for using VoIP

Qualifying Your Network:

With VoIP, your voice will be transmitted over IP over the Internet. The first thing you will need is a proper assessment of your local network where you will be making and receiving calls.  Secondly is to have a broadband or dedicated Internet connection with adequate bandwidth. Active IP provides professional services that will identify the limitations of your current network configuration. With this base line we can detail what your network is capable of handling and what changes need to take place to produce the VoIP environment you are looking to achieve.

Choose The Type Of VoIP You Want

  • PC to PC - software based
  • PC to phone (and vice versa) - software and hardware based
  • Phone to phone - hardware based

Assessing your requirements will help understand what kind of service you want. For instance, if you want completely free VoIP, then PC to PC is so far the only option. It has the constraint of requiring you and the person(s) at the other side of the line to be connected on a computer or PC-like device.

Services beyond the computer, using phones and other more handy communicating devices, include having to pay fees outside of your existing Internet connection costs.

These fees are getting lower day after day, and some services are even setting foot on the free spectrum.

The most convenient service for a business is the fully hardware-based one where you use phone sets just like with PSTN, without a PC. In this case, you need either an ATA with a traditional phone or an IP Phone, along with a service.

Choose a VoIP Service

Just like for traditional phone (PSTN), you will need a service that allows you to place and receive phone calls over your Internet connection, both locally and internationally. Active IP provides a variety of Unlimited Nation Wide and International plans. If you want to deploy VoIP in your business, and be implemented seamlessly, Active IP can cover all the various aspects of your VoIP deployment from beginning to end.

Get Your VoIP Equipment

The equipment you need for VoIP can be very cheap or quite expensive depending on your needs. If you go for PC-to-PC communication, the only thing you will need as equipment besides your computer will be a hearing and speaking device - a headset or microphone and speakers.

Some softphone applications do allow you to make and receive calls using your mobile phone, thus eliminating the need for headsets and other equipment of the like. You either install their softphone client on your mobile phone or use their web interface for the dialing.

Benefits of VoIP

Voice over IP (VoIP) was developed in order to provide access to voice communication in any place around the world. In most places, voice communication is quite costly. Consider making a phone call to a person living in a country half the globe away. The first thing you think of in this case is your phone bill! VoIP solves this problem and many others.

Save a lot of money

If you don’t use VoIP for voice communication, then you are most certainly using the good old phone line (PSTN - Packet Switched Telephone Network). On a PSTN line, time is really money. You actually pay for each minute you spend communicating on the phone. International calls are much more expensive. Since VoIP uses the Internet as backbone, the only cost you have when using it is the monthly Internet bill to your ISP. Of course you need broadband Internet access, like ADSL or a T1, with a decent speed. In fact, unlimited 24/7 ADSL Internet service is what most people use today, and this causes your monthly cost to be of a fixed amount. You can speak as much as you wish on VoIP and the connection cost will still be the same.

With VoIP there are no more expensive wiring costs associated with adding additional phone lines. Because VoIP calls are conducted over your network, the calls can share your existing network connection that your computer is using.  This is true for both physical network connections and wireless (WiFi).

In addition you are not looked into proprietary phones or adapters. All IP enabled phones from different vendors are interchangeable.  Note that some IP based phones may include more buttons and features than others.  Depending on your needs and requirements you can customize the IP Phones to get the most use out of them.

Studies have shown that, compared to using a PSTN line, using VoIP can potentially make you save up to 40 % on local calls, and up to 90 % on international calls.

More than two people

On the phone line, only two people can speak at a time. With VoIP, you can setup a conference with a whole team communicating in real time. VoIP compresses data packets during transmission, and this causes more data to be handled over the carrier. As a result, more calls can be handled on one access line.

Fast VoIP Deployment

Active IP currently is partnered with companies that are producing the latest cutting edge technology regarding wireless Internet connectivity called WiMax.  WiMax has proven to take on the demand of Internet connection needs in countries outside of the US for years and is now being deployed in a rapid pace in the US. WiMAX is a standards-based technology enabling the delivery of last mile wireless broadband access as an alternative to wired broadband like cable and DSL.

WiMax will soon be replacing today's cell phone network and will provide true unlimited calling plans not only Nation Wide but coupled with International calling as well. Get ready to finally say goodbye to those outrageous cell phone bills along with those marketing pitches that trap you into a those long yearly contracts.

Sprint and Intel are two examples of companies that have invested millions into WiMAX development to take advantage of the most open and spontaneous internet experiences to ever be available.
